If you knew me, you'd know that there's a story behind the odd spelling of my name, and that the privies in medieval castles fascinate me. Want the inside scoop? Listen to this interview with Laura Roppe at Kindle Love Stories to find out!

Guardians of the Targe/Book I
Hidden deep in the rugged Scottish Highlands lies the Highland Targe, an ancient relic guarded for centuries by clan MacAlpin. When an English spy is sent to wrest it from them, nothing goes as he intended and he is forced to choose between his king's will and his own: Will he betray his king and his mission? Or will he turn his back on the woman he has come to love?
When the shrew and the charmer are thrown together by happenstance, foul weather, and a plot against the king, sparks fly and a deep surprising passion flames to life between them.
Trouble follows close on their heels as they travel together to warn the king. Only by trusting each other and their growing love that warms even the shrew’s careful heart, can they hope to survive the harsh climate, her hoard of brothers and the man who seeks harm to the king.
Available for Kindle*, paperback and audio. Also in German! See Rettung der Highlanderin below.

Can he convince the one woman who seems determined to stay out of the clan’s turmoil to help him protect the clan from the king’s wrath, and to give him her heart in the process?
In the dark of night, Elena of Lamont must flee her home after her father’s death to escape the brutal clansman determined to satisfy his lust for power — and for her. But will he be able to win the love of the tender enchantress who has stolen his heart?

I'm thrilled to announce the release of a new German translation of Charming the Shrew. The story is unchanged from the previous German editions (Im Herzen des Hochlands & Retter in Dunkler Nacht) but this edition is available for the first time for your Kindle (or your Kindle ap!). It's also available in paper back.
There’s nothing like the first really hot days of summer to make me want to curl up somewhere cool and escape into a book. Last week, here in Virginia, we hit 99 and the heat index was over 100 so I thought it was high time to make The Devil of Kilmartin such a deal that you couldn’t possibly pass up the opportunity to escape the heat and journey into the Scottish Highlands where the men are braw and the women like them that way.
To whet your appetite here’s a couple of pictures I took on my research trip for this book.
This is the spot where the hero and heroine meet:
Temple Wood stone circle, Kilmartin, Scotland
And here is the castle that inspired my Kilmartin Castle:
Doune Castle near Sterling, Scotland
In true writer’s style, I lifted this castle, moved it west to Argyll,
and plopped it down where a medieval structure once stood.
I fell in love with this castle and my characters really came alive for me within its walls.
For Monty Python and the Holy Grail fans,
this is the castle the French soldiers threw the cow from.
So please treat yourself to a thrifty trip to
for only .99!
I’m taking a moment here as we begin another year to say thank you to all my readers. There has been a wonderful response to my re-published backlist books this year and it has kept a smile on my face since the first e-copy of The Devil of Kilmartin sold back in September. October and November brought Charming the Shrew and Daring the Highlander (Books I & II of The MacLeods) out in e-formats for the first time ever and they have all been scooped up, er downloaded, by readers both at home and across the pond.
My plan is to thank all of you with a new Scottish medieval romance this year. I’m not revealing anything about it yet, as it’s still in those tender early stages, but I think you’ll find it to be another great adventure in the Highlands.
Available for the first time in ebook formats for only $2.99.
